Label coverage to containers

Convert ft²/gal or m²/L coverage into paint volume

Keep the area and coverage in the same measurement system, multiply the net area by coats, and divide by the coverage value supplied for the paint.

Match area and coverage units

Use square feet with ft²/US gal, or square metres with m²/L. For example, 60 m² painted twice is 120 coated m². At a stated 10 m²/L, the required volume is 12 L.

Round only at the container boundary

Required volume can contain a fraction. If the 12 L example is sold only in user-entered 5 L containers, three containers are needed and the purchased volume is 15 L. Optional cost uses that rounded count.
