Area, coats and coverage

Paint coverage calculator using your label value

Required paint volume equals net paintable area multiplied by the coat count, then divided by the coverage printed on the selected paint container or datasheet.

Use the coverage for the actual paint

Coverage varies by product, surface and application. Read the stated ft² per US gallon or m² per litre value from the container or technical sheet and enter it directly. PaintCalc does not insert a hidden industry average.

Multiply for coats before dividing

A 350 ft² surface with two coats represents 700 coated square feet. At a user-supplied coverage of 350 ft²/US gal, the estimate is 2 US gal. If a container volume is entered, only the container count rounds upward.

Area input

Changing the measurement system resets the example values; it does not silently convert an existing project.

Paintable surfaces

Add rectangular surfaces and subtract openings, or enter one known net area.

Paint details

Enter the coat count and the coverage printed on the selected paint label or datasheet.

Enter the maker's stated coverage; PaintCalc has no hidden default
